Radiology and Radiation Protection Module 4


Course Aim:

This course aims to provide dental professionals with the knowledge and understanding of radiation justification and selection criteria when taking radiographs in dental practice. You will also gain knowledge for a robust and comprehensive quality assurance programme so that you can implement this as part of your safe working practices.

The objective of this e-learning course is to provide training in line with the GDC’s Development Outcome: C – Maintenance and development of knowledge and skill within your field(s) of practice.


Learning Objectives

The objective of this e-learning course is that upon completion, the learner will:

  • Be aware of selection criteria in the justification and authorisation of radiographs.
  • Appreciate the requirements for clinical evaluation and record keeping.
  • Be familiar with diagnostic reference levels.
  • Understand the implementation of a robust and comprehensive Quality Assurance programme.


GDC Development Outcomes: C, D

This course provides 90 minutes of ECPD.

Under the Health and Safety Work Act 1974, the primary responsibility lies with the employer. Every employer must ensure that so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all their employees. All employees are also responsible for their own health and safety and others at work.

This course is suitable for the whole dental team.
