The Registered Manager’s Roles and Responsibilities

The Registered Manager role carries significant responsibilities for the individual, including legal accountability, alongside the Provider, for the day-to-day management of the practice’s regulated activities.

Registered Managers remain legally liable for the regulated activities until they inform the CQC of their decision to vary or cancel their registration.

All dental practices that are registered with the CQC are required to have a Registered Manager.

The only exception is where the service provider (usually the practice principal or the practice owner i.e. the legal entity) is an individual (i.e. not part of a partnership and not a limited company) who manages the service the practice provides on a day-to-day basis and who has the necessary skills and experience to do this.

All other practices require a Registered Manager.
